Camera or Share Screen in a call
Show Pufy what your camera sees, or share your screen so it talks you through it step by step.
In a voice chat, Pufy can see what you show it. Tap the camera button at the top left, beside the settings button, and choose Camera or Share Screen. While either is on, the button is filled; tap it once to stop.
Camera
- Pufy sees the latest picture each time you finish speaking, and answers about it.
- No picture goes while you are muted, or when you answer an approval card with a spoken yes or no.
- Each picture is deleted once Pufy has answered. Nothing is recorded, and pictures never show in your Library.
- The back camera opens first (the front one on a Mac). Tap the camera picture to flip it.
- The camera turns off when you end the call, open the voice settings or leave Pufy.
Share Screen
Pufy sees your screen each time you speak, while you use other apps, and talks you through it one step at a time: which button, which row, where. It only looks. It never taps or types on your device, and it never reads out passwords, codes or card numbers it sees. The camera and the screen are never on together.
iPhone and iPad
- In the voice settings, turn on Hands-free and Keep listening outside Pufy. Without them, Pufy shows a message asking you to.
- Tap the camera button, then Share Screen. iOS shows its own sheet; tap Start Broadcast.
- Go to the app you need help with. The call shows in a floating window, and a red pill at the top of the screen shows you are sharing.
- To stop, tap the camera button in the call, or tap the red pill and stop the broadcast there. Ending the call stops it too.
Mac
Choose Share Screen, then pick a window or a display in the Mac's own picker. It needs macOS 15.2 or later.
Android
Choose Share Screen and allow screen capture when Android asks. A notification shows while you share; tap Stop there or in the call.
Web
Share Screen is on computers. Your browser asks which screen, window or tab to share; its own stop button ends it too. On phones and tablets the button turns on the camera only.
Daily limit
Camera and screen pictures share one daily limit: 60 a day with Pufy Plus. When you reach it, Pufy says "Pufy can't see more today. The camera turns back on tomorrow." and both turn off. The limit resets at midnight UTC.
If something is wrong
- "To show the camera, allow Pufy to use it in System Settings." Allow the camera for Pufy in your device's settings. On the web, allow it in your browser's site settings.
- "Couldn't start the camera." Another app may be using it. Close it and try again.
- "Couldn't send what the screen shows." That turn went without the picture; Pufy answers anyway. Keep talking.
